Christmas 2016 Newsletter

13th December 2016

Welcome to my Christmas 2016 Newsletter!

Hello everyone,
Just can’t believe how quickly time flies. We are now on the cusp of 2017, which usually heralds reflection on what has been achieved and what opportunities have been missed in the past year. We must take these lessons so we can learn and progress to make 2017 the best year yet.
In this newsletter I again have some quotes for your consideration, which have been prompted by the many matters that I have, and continue to handle.
“There is no illusion greater than fear.”
― Lao Tzu
“Men are not afraid of things, but of how they view them.”
― Epictetus
“Much unhappiness has come into the world because of bewilderment and things left unsaid.”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky
“Many times in life I've regretted the things I've said without thinking. But I've never regretted the things I said nearly as much as the words I left unspoken.”
― Lisa Kleypas, Sugar Daddy
It seems to me that most of the cases that come to me arise out of fear and lack of communication. Such fear has arisen because a person feels that they will be misunderstood or that they will lose face when they are confronted with difficulties. Due to lack of communication the other party feels that there is no respect and/or they have been forgotten. It has been my experience is that when clear communication and respect is evident, it is returned and many confrontations can be avoided. In fact it is very often what is left unsaid that creates the most problems.
I find when we are able to express how we feel without blame, that most people respond with understanding and will work with you to find an acceptable resolution of your difficulties.
Silence due fear of rejection or loss of respect is very much like an untreated cancer which destroys relationships by creating misunderstandings and allowing problems to grow out of proportion. When we perceive a problem and express it clearly, miracles very often happen. This happens because we see the “problem” in a new perspective or help appears.

To each and everyone, you are all special to me and I thank you for your gracious support over the last year. On behalf of our team at JCL Legal I wish you a Very Merry Christmas and the most prosperous New Year. I look forward to catching up with you in the New Year at one of my breakfasts and wish you a safe and happy holiday.
